BBR Feature Racer: Daniel Meynet – Up and Coming!

As one of BBR’s newest team riders, Daniel Meynet is making a name for himself in the Mini Moto ranks. Known to his competitors as a skilled holeshot artist and fierce competitor, Daniel is an up and coming “phenom” with his sights set on the highest levels in Mini Moto.

Daniel grew up in SoCal, and at age 3, started riding a PW50. Over time, he moved through the ranks on KTM50’s, KX65’s, CR85’s, CR150’s and is now riding a KX250F. Though his full size bikes provide many wins for him in the events he enters all over the country, his passion for Mini Moto is intense. In 2007, he raced the Mini Moto SX in Las Vegas for the first time and found himself hooked. After a second place finish in the youth class, BBR recognized Daniel’s potential and decided to offer support for his 2008 racing season in the competitive 18-under class. Daniel did not disappoint, showing his skills again at the 2009 Las Vegas Mini Moto SX. Daniel managed a near holeshot and was running in second place behind Blake Baggett when he hit a turn barrel and broke his hand (metacarpal). Daniel rode through the pain but dropped back to 4th place, barely missing the podium.

After a ‘youthfully’ quick recovery, Daniel is spending the 2009 summer racing as much as he can. To date, he has won every class he has entered (6 for 6 main event wins, with holeshots in 10 of 12 starts). At Pala Raceway’s grand opening event, Daniel raced in the 12” amateur class and the 12” open class (all ages), winning both classes, and took home his fair share of the holeshot money. Daniel also competes in the Milestone MX series and has consistently won the 17 and under class, along with a win in the 18+ open class this past weekend (holeshotting every moto and leading AMA Supermoto Pro Brandon Ward on a national level CRF150R for a few laps).

“Daniel has incredible skill on a motocross bike”, said Brent Brown, General Manager at BBR Motorsports, “His personality and professionalism are what attracted us to him. Winning races will get you noticed, but BBR looks for racers who will represent the company by displaying a great attitude and dedication to the sport. Daniel has the whole package, and we look forward to working with him again this year”.

Daniels immediate plans include racing the rest of the Milestone series, and the Mini Madness race at Perris. But the Las Vegas Mini Moto SX is never far from his mind. Along with BBR’s support, Daniel has the support of his talented family. His brother is a national level downhill mountain bike racer (currently 4th in the nation). Daniels mom and dad also have racing in their blood. Mom was a top women’s BMX star, and dad is a national champion in the Time Attack Racing Series with his 800hp WRX/STI Subaru. Daniel has chosen Motocross to round out the families racing activities.

Daniel races both the MM10E and MM12E classes at the Mini events. His 12” BBR Mini is equipped with the new 4 valve 160 cc Kitaco top end, 28mm carb, Marzzochi forks, BBR Swingarm Kit, BBR disc brakes, and many other quality BBR components.

If you see Daniel at the track, please say hello and wish him luck.
